It's all About the Blogs - Content is Still King

Blogging with Balance

When it comes to blogging, it is important to ensure that you have enough content within your blog, (in other words, the word count.) Too short and it will have little impact on search engine optimisation. Ideally you should be targeting a minimum of 350 words or more. Of course, there is no limit to how much you want to write, but always make sure there is a balance, no-one wants their readers to fall asleep halfway through! If you do intend on writing a lengthy article or blog, consider delivering it in parts.

When and How Often to Blog?

One of the most common questions when it comes to blogging is the frequency of when to post. Again, this is all about balance. What our experts say is ‘Be consistent’. Decide whether you want to publish once a week or once per month, make the decision and stick to it. Publish at the same time and same day or date, and should you want to write more blogs, you can always schedule them to be published at a later date. Of course, you can make an exception by publishing additional blogs such as important updates, trending or breaking news if needs be.

What to Consider when Writing a Blog?

When it comes to content, there are several key factors to consider, not only for the reader but also for search engines. Google likes things to be ‘dumbed down’, so use short, snappy sentences, and avoid too many technical terms where possible. Break your content up with sub-headers, and include one or two relevant images to give it a visual appeal. Of course, always consider your keywords, focus on the one, include it in the title and a couple of times throughout the content. But equally important, don’t ‘force’ the keywords, write naturally… Google loves unique, good quality content, not spammy blatant promotion.

What to do Next?

So, you have your blog published. But this is not the end of the journey, it's just the beginning. The next is to get readers. Share it on your social media networks, promote it in your newsletters, include a link in your email signature and, where possible, feature it on the front page of your website. It is all about getting the word out and self-promotion is key.
